We're Not in Kansas Anymore!

We spent about an hour in the hallway last night, AGAIN, as storms and tornado's ripped through St. Louis. The storms started out in the far west area of Missouri around 5pm and were in the St. Louis area around 8pm.

As soon I seen that funnel clouds were being spotted all over, and especially just west of us, I barricaded the kids and I in the hallway. You know what sucks about tornado's? Having NO basement! It's so hard trying to keep 3 small children crammed in the hallway, but we did it.

There were reports of a tornado at a major highway heading towards St. Louis International Airport and North of the airport. I immediately panicked because my mom was suppose to be on a flight home from Mexico at that time. I wasn't sure if she was even able to land, and if she did land whether she was out of the airport and on her way home, or if she was stuck inside the airport.

I got a hold of her, and she said they had just landed and were stuck inside the airport. There was major damage, and they couldn't leave until it was safe. But they were OK!

I then called my dad because there was a report of funnel clouds heading towards us. All was alright there. We waited until the warning was lifted and then we were able to put the kids to bed.

This morning I have just been in shock watching the news coverage of all the damage. Houses completely leveled, all the damage at the airport, and all the damage north of the airport in the area we used to live in.

My aunt, uncle, and cousins live north of the airport where the tornado headed next. Thankfully they are all OK, they have no power, and a tree fell and scraped my cousins car. No one is hurt though and no damage to the house.

I am so thankful that having no basement our house was not hit with anything. Seeing these houses with nothing left standing scares the crap out of me. Especially when you think, that there are no injuries or fatalities because the families took shelter in the basement.

I am thankful that so far no fatalities have been reported and only a few minor injuries. I am thankful my mom is safe and home now. I am thankful all my friends and family are safe.

Today, I am praying for all the families affected by these tornado's. As they try to straighten things out and move on. I could only imagine the devastation.

Video from inside the airport as the tornado approaches.

So glad you are okay! My brother-in-law lives in StL and we used to live in Farmington (which is where the in-laws still live) so I know it was a scary night for many! It really is a miracle there were so few injuries, and I am joining you in prayers for all those affected! Hope you were still able to enjoy your Easter! :)
